The UC Irvine Center for Pain Management (http://www.ucipain.com) is an advanced center for the evaluation and treatment of all forms of pain.
Our clinical mission is to enhance patients' quality of life through not only a decrease in pain but also by improving their ability to participate in activities they enjoy. We attempt to accomplish this by taking an integrated approach to pain management, providing consultation and treatment to individuals with both acute and chronic pain. Each patient is prescribed an individually-tailored treatment plan after having been thoroughly evaluated by our skilled team.
Our academic mission is to help future leaders in pain medicine advance through developing knowledge and skills in managing patients in pain while practicing excellent patient care and participating in a stimulating research environment. The program has a tradition of providing trainees with the broadest experience in pain medicine.
The UC Irvine Center for Pain Management provides evaluation and treatment for a wide variety of painful conditions. Whether the patient is suffering from acute pain following surgery or trauma, chronic pain, or cancer-related pain, effective treatment is possible. Pain is not a trivial symptom and should not be ignored. Unchecked pain can lead to decreased productivity and a decreased quality of life. When pain is properly controlled, patients suffer less, sleep better, and have more vitality to enjoy daily activities.
The Center for Pain Mangement team at UC Irvine has worked with numerous patients and their doctors to develop customized treatment plans. This state-of-the-art facility has the latest testing and diagnostic equipment available in Orange County in order to conduct thorough evaluations.
The Center's multidisciplinary approach focuses on relieving the patient's symptoms while restoring function and mobility as well their emotional health.
Our core team includes pain fellowship trained anesthesiologists and physical medicine physicians, neurologists, physician extenders (physician assistant, nurse practitioner), nurses, medical assistants, administrative support as well as adult and pediatric pain psychologists.
In addition to our outpatient services, our team provides comprehensive inpatient consultative services at the New Patient Hospital. This allows our team to provide support and guidance to both patients and physicians in the hospital setting. Chronic pain in the hospital setting often complicates patient management and may lead to longer stays. Our team works closely with admitting physicians to optimize pain management of their patients.
Our pain management team also provides interventional pain coverage to the Long Beach Veteran's Administration hospital. Providing quality care to both soldiers recently wounded in battle and soldiers that have developed pain syndromes not due to battlefield trauma.
