Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist Series Position

General Information:

Applications are being sought for a Specialist position in the area of child health at University of California, Irvine. The position will be in a scientific and administrative leadership role on an innovative project in healthcare delivery. The person is this position will be responsible for working with primary investigators to develop and evaluate efforts to modify healthcare providers' behaviors in the treatment of children undergoing surgery. Job responsibilities include a range of clinically relevant research activities including intervention development, measure selection, IRB preparation, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. Mentorship in grantsmanship is also available depending on needs and interests of the applicant filling this position. Rank will be determined based on qualifications.

Minimum Requirements:

PhD prepared applicants are sought (including postdoctoral candidates), although outstanding Masters level candidates would be considered. Area of specialization in training is flexible although preference will be given to candidates with a background in behavioral or health sciences (psychology, public health, nursing). This would be an ideal position for a candidate looking to establish a reputation in high quality healthcare research before seeking a faculty position. Organizational and strong interpersonal skills required. Experience working within healthcare systems is an asset. Bilingual language proficiency (English/Spanish) is an asset. Director, Pain Management
Location: Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care

General Information:

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine is seeking a board certified pain specialist to lead a busy multidisciplinary pain management practice, mentor and direct an expanding chronic and acute pain group, develop a division-wide research focus and represent the department in multiple hospital-wide initiatives in pain management. One additional academic faculty position is available to join this exciting program. UC Irvine’s rapidly growing pain management program includes an active interventional pain management component. Ample opportunities exist for scholarly effort and teaching through an ACGME approved Pain Medicine Fellowship.

Requirements – Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology and fellowship trained and certified by the ABA in pain management. Health Sciences Clinical Instructors/Professors

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine is significantly expanding and is seeking qualified candidates for HS/Clinical Instructors to HS/Clinical Professors in the non-tenure track clinical series to support leadership in clinical growth, subspecialty practice expansion and academic program development.

This high level recruitment is being conducted in anticipation of the opening of our new hospital in January 2009 at our Orange campus. Simulation Center Coordinator
Location: Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care
(UCI Main Campus and UC Irvine Medical Center)

General Information:

Under the direction of the Director of the UCI Simulation Center, the Simulation Center Coordinator/Manager will be responsible for coordinating all operational and administrative aspects of the simulation programs offered by the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care and the UCI School of Medicine. The Simulation Center Coordinator will work with anesthesiology faculty and other medical school faculty to develop innovative educational courses using human patient simulators and audiovisual equipment. The Simulation Center will provide educational courses for all UCI medical students, UCI residents, UCI nursing students, UCIMC health care teams, community physicians and other community health care providers. The Simulation Center Coordinator will provide support for clinical research, assist faculty in organizing and developing new simulation-based educational courses, and oversee the daily operations of the Simulation Center.

The ideal candidate has a master's degree or Ph.D. in Education, Healthcare, Nursing, Instructional Technology, or a related field as well as research experience. Excellent communication and writing skills, knowledge of human physiology and medical terminology, computer skills and experience in medical simulation is preferred. Previous experience in clinical, educational research, and/or healthcare education as well as experience in BLS, ACLS, PALS, or ATLS is preferred. This position's location will be primarily at the UCI-Irvine campus in the new Medical Education Building as well as part-time in UC Irvine-Orange. The start date for this position is March 1, 2010. Salary is commensurate with experience.
