The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of California Irvine is significantly expanding and is seeking qualified candidates for HS/Associate Clinical Professor/ HS Clinical Professor in the non-tenure track series to support leadership in clinical growth, subspecialty practice expansion and academic program development.

This high level recruitment is being conducted in anticipation of the opening of our new hospital in January 2009 at our Orange campus.  This state-of- the-art medical center will provide services for all surgical subspecialties, including trauma coverage for Orange County and expansion of maternal-fetal services. 

In addition, the UCI Simulation and Telemedicine Center will be opening in Spring 2009 at our Irvine campus.

Candidates must be board certified in Anesthesiology, and have potential or proven leadership abilities in the clinical arena.  The department is especially committed to the appointment and support of academically promising individuals with special interests in:

1) Critical Care
2) Neurosurgical Anesthesia
3) Simulation Training
4) Obstetrical Anesthesia
5) Pain Medicine

ASSISTANT RESEARCHER

UC Irvine is looking for an individual to fill a position in the Professional Research Series as Assistant Researcher. Major duties of this position are coordinating a study examining healthcare provider-parent-child interactions in the perioperative environment (including code development and refinement, coder training, reliability analyses). Other duties involve assisting in grant preparation and independent grant submission. Data analysis (Univariate, multivariate, and sequential analysis) and manuscript preparation skills required as is grant submission experience. The successful candidate will have a PhD with postdoctoral experience in an area relevant to perioperative health or behavior analysis. Candidates with a clinical psychology or health psychology background preferred. Experience with Noldus Observer Pro technology is an asset.

POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR

The Department of Anesthesiology, at the University California, Irvine is seeking a full time employee in the Postdoctoral Scholar series. We are looking for a bright, self-motivated, behavioral researcher to help establish and manage a vibrant research program investigating verbal and non-verbal interactions between children, parents and health care personnel in a hospital setting.  This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience and interest in behavior analysis (Social or Experimental Psychology background preferred but any qualified candidate should apply) and who is interested in conducting new, cutting-edge research on the role of interpersonal communications in perioperative stress and anxiety. Excellent opportunity to engage in progressive research using cutting-edge Noldus technology, prefer some experience in observational coding of behavior or behavior analysis, human development, research methodology, and administrative skill. Doctoral degree with experience and interest in these areas preferred, but ABD and qualified Masters applicants will be considered. Clinical supervision required toward licensure will be available.
